Well, until all the work for week 10 starts…
How well do you feel you completed the requirements of the week’s assignments?
What gave you trouble? What did you enjoy most? What did you learn?
What would you do differently? What questions to you have?
What are some of the larger issues surrounding your work? Cultural/Societal implications?
Other than the miserable failure of DailyCreates, I believe I completed all other requirements and included everything that needs to be included in each. I really love how my “tutorial on a digital tool” assignment turned out. I included pictures and also a video. I think somebody who wants to get a fairly simple idea of where to start with OBS (what I did my tutorial on) would enjoy my tutorial and walk away understanding the basics. I also really like my first attempt with using X-Ray Goggles because I couldn’t stop laughing as I went wild on a Tiffany & CO. product that was very pricey. Reviewing the radio shows was neither extremely fun, nor was it mundane. It was just something that had to be done and I suppose it was interesting to hear another group’s work and compare it to the show my group did.
Hmm…I don’t think anything gave me trouble. I am madly in love with X-Ray Goggles though! I can’t believe I never knew that something like that existed. Honestly, there is so much one can do by having the power to change the images and text of existing websites. There is great potential for satire and comedy. I also saw that Mozilla has others web tools and they all looked like something I might download and try for myself. I think the biggest lesson here is that the internet is a vast and beautiful place and I was genuinely surprised by this tool that allows you to “see code”. I even tried to wake my husband up from a nap because I wanted him to see what I was doing. The message here is: explore the internet and you will acquire skills you never thought possible.
If there is anything I would do differently this week its more DailyCreates. I don’t worry too much about it though at this point. I understand how they affect my grade and I understand that this week there was a mini storytelling assignment that went along with it. I’ll try to get back in the DailyCreate game next week.
The biggest societal implication that I touched on this week is the new business and social world that is developing in cyberspace. As I mentioned in one of my posts, young people and even old people now make careers of videotaping themselves and putting it on their YouTube Channel or playing video game competitions. This is a real thing. People make a lot of money and they become famous. You don’t have to turn on the cooking channel anymore to see some recipes because you can log into YouTube and subscribe to some random guy who videotapes himself in his kitchen. Personally, i’m all for it because it’s nice to have choices and it’s nice to see average people doing great things from home.
