Good evening! These past two weeks included so much movie making magic! Below are questions I considered for these weeks.
How well do you feel you completed the requirements of the week’s assignments?
What gave you trouble? What did you enjoy most? What did you learn?
What would you do differently? What questions to you have?
What are some of the larger issues surrounding your work? Cultural/Societal implications?
Surprisingly, I have completed all the Daily Creates for these weeks! I haven’t been doing all of them so I feel good about getting six of them done. I looked at some other students’ work for one of the required options: “Have a Conversation With Yourself” assignment and I think mine might be good in comparison? I’m not sure. It was an extremely difficult assignment. I also completed 4 other video assignments worth a total of 17.5 stars, a little over the required 16 stars.
The “Have A Conversation….” assignment was a nightmare. It was extremely time consuming and difficult! iMovie does not allow a simple option of layering videos so I had to do some weird things and the final product was not 100% good. Also, timing myself talking to myself was very hard. Even when I though I gave enough pause for the “other me” to speak, some stuff overlapped. Quiet a complex assignment. However, I did learn a lot of cool new features of iMovie that I did not know before! There are many options of putting one video into another and they all look pretty cool. I also learned a lot about how difficult it can be to capture a meaningful shot. Angles are extremely important as I discovered in my nature video. From one angle the trees looked boring but from another they looked regal and majestic. Also, adding music to a video makes it much more interesting and adds depth to the whole product. I mostly used “happy” and “bouncy” music tracks but they go well with the visual. Good sound and good video must always go hand in hand. I don’t feel like I paid too much attention to the whole placement of my subjects, like to the left or to the right. I think the reason for that is that sometimes, things look good to me no matter where they are placed in the video. This could also be a sign of the fact that I am an amateur when it comes to movies.
I don’t think I would have done anything differently. I did become slightly concerned when going back and checking that I had everything completed: I was focused on getting 16 stars and kind of skipped over, or forgot the part where it says 5 assingments (I did 4). I like to choose the more difficult ones because they usually take some time and the product is better looking. I don’t usually make this mistake and I will pay more attention in the future.
I covered a few larger issues: nature and the psychologically important role it plays in human and animal health. I also talked about beauty and upkeep of ones self. I reflected on how life can be difficult at a younger age and how confidence is very important to a young adult who is growing into adulthood. I also touched on the interesting progression of how people dress and dance now, compared to the times when classical music was a staple and ladies believe showing their ankles was naughty.
